Chapter 10
“Joel, do your job,” Joseph said coldly.
“Yes, Mr. Mullins.”
Soon, the entire corridor was cleared out, devoid of idle chatter. The young nurses left with shocked expressions. They had heard that Julia was divorced, so what happened just now?
Julia had been in Joseph’s embrace all along, feeling the slight heave of his chest. Suddenly, her nose tingled, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Cases of patients‘ families causing trouble at the hospital were common, and Julia had dealt with many of them. Even Byron had helped her resolve a few incidents before. But this was the first time someone had protected her in their arms. A warm current enveloped her entirely.
Joseph lowered his gaze and could only see the top of her head. He could body trembling, he unconsciously furrowed his brow. She was too thin, and he could feel her bones.

As Julia calmed down, it finally dawned on her why Joseph would appear at the hospital. The only answer was Amelie. Thinking of this, she closed her eyes and straightened her body with effort. ‘He just happened to see me on the way, Julia thought, telling herself not to overthink it.

Feeling Julia’s attempt to straighten up, Joseph released her and accidentally touched her in the process, causing Julia to flinch in pain.
Joseph furrowed his brow. “Your shoulders…”
Julia thanked him and said, “It’s okay.” She turned to avoid Joseph’s gaze, adjusting her clothing slightly As expected, bruises had formed. She bit her lip, preparing to go to her office to apply medicine.
Suddenly, a trembling voice came from behind Joseph. “Wait! Wait!”
check her shoulders.
Julia turned around, puzzled, as did Joseph. Behind them stood a couple. The woman was dressed in an expensive dress and exuded an air of nobility and dominance, and the man was in a suit with gold–rimmed glasses. They were charming despite their age. However, both had a look of shock on their faces. Especially so for the woman whose beautiful eyes, similar to Julia’s, were filled with tears.
The woman took a few steps forward, raised her hand but hesitated in mid–air. Her voice trembled as she said, “Can I have another look at your shoulder?”
Julia was perplexed.
Joseph stepped forward. “Madam…”
The woman didn’t look at him but kept staring at Julia, her eyes filled with disbelief. The man managed to suppress the tremor in his voice and said, “Our daughter has the same birthmark behind her shoulder as yours. She went missing over a decade
ago.
Julia was taken aback. Rashad and Eliza had adopted her over a decade ago. She was carrying a pendant engraved with the letter “J” then. Apart from that, she knew nothing about herself. She didn’t even know she had a birthmark behind her shoulder.
When Julia slightly showed her shoulders to the couple, the woman’s tears instantly fell. “Julia, Julia, you are Julia! Julia, I’m sorry! It was my fault you got lost…” The woman embraced Julia, her words becoming somewhat incoherent.
Julia stiffened, not daring to move. She couldn’t even believe what was going on. Subconsciously, she looked at Joseph, her eyes showing confusion, like a lost puppy, a rare display of vulnerability.
Joseph’s eyes flickered. He murmured, “Sir, Madam, let’s go to Julia’s office.”

Sergio Lopez was also very excited. Upon hearing this, he pulled his wife away and followed Julia’s instructions to the office.
Julia and Joseph stood in place.
“They are…” Julia asked in a low voice.
“They are my mother’s friends who came to the hospital for a check–up today, and I happened to run into them,” Joseph replied.
So, Joseph’s purpose for coming to the hospital today was obvious to all. Julia nodded before saying softly, “I won’t trouble you in that case. You should go to accompany Amelie.” With that, she quickly left. It was a perfectly normal remark, but Joseph couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
As Joseph watched Julia’s departing figure, a soft voice called out from behind him. “Joseph!” Amelie came up, leaning gently against his back, her eyes curving into a sweet smile. “What are you looking at, Joseph?”
Julia had entered her office by then, and Joseph withdrew his gaze. “It’s nothing,” he said calmly.
Joseph and Amelie walked toward the elevator with Amelie holding onto his arm. Although he seemed to be in an embrace, Joseph seemed a bit absent.
Amelie casually glanced back, her expression somewhat gloomy as she looked at the empty huffed inwardly. ‘Why does she keep getting close to Joseph?‘
