Chapter 11
In the office, Julia sat there, looking somewhat embarrassed, while the two people opposite her were more excited than she was. She didn’t even know what expression to have.
“Julia, how have you been all these years?” Sergio held his wife’s hand, comforting her repeatedly as he softly asked Julia.
Julia clutched the fabric of her pants, seeing the concern and tenderness visible in their eyes. Her adoptive parents, Rashad and Eliza, had never shown her such a caring expression.
Julia’s heart ached, and a sudden surge of bitterness swept through her mind. She composed herself quickly and said hoarsely, “I believe you are my parents. But let’s do a DNA test. If not, I’m afraid I’ll disappoint you.” She paused, a bitter smile appearing on her face. “Nothing is certain, and I can’t believe it myself. I don’t want to be ridiculed anymore.”

Hearing this, Catalina sighed, tears welling up in her eyes again. She for Julia but still agreed to have the DNA test done. “Alright, alright, let’s do it.” Without a second thought, she plucked a hair from her head. And before Sergio noticed, she plucked another one from his head.
“Ouch…” Sergio winced in pain. Every hair was invaluable when one reached middle age.
Julia had a hint of a smile in her eyes as she put the hair into a bag, ready to take it for
While waiting for the results, Julia continued to stay in the hospital dormitory. Byron heard Julia had been harassed by a patient’s family and skipped his classes to come to the hospital.
“Have you heard? When Dr. Valentine was being troubled, the CEO of the family had helped her out,” a person
gossiped.
“The CEO of the Mullins family? Didn’t he divorce her? Could it be that he still loves her?” another pers
asked.

“I don’t know, but anyway, Dr. Valentine has risen to the position of deputy chief surgeon so quickly. Surely, it’s related to the Mullins family.”
“They’re about to select a chief surgeon soon. I wonder if Dr. Valentine can succeed this time without the support of the Mullins family.”
Byron didn’t stop walking when he heard the gossip, but his brow furrowed deeply, and his face darkened. He quickly adjusted his expression. When he opened Julia’s office door, he was beaming. “Julia!”
Julia was startled by Byron and gave him a reproachful look. “Stop being so dramatic!”
Byron smiled and handed her the latte he was holding. “Have some latte. I heard someone is causing trouble again, right? Don’t worry about it. Let the latte cheer you up.”
Julia took it and took a sip. “Quite thoughtful of you, boy.”
Byron said, “Julia, let me treat you to a meal, okay?”
Julia nodded. “Wait a moment. I’ll finish up with these.”
“Working on your paper?” Byron asked.
“Yeah, I might even get promoted to chief surgeon this time. It all depends on this paper,” Julia replied.
Byron waited by her side, and by the time she was almost done, he was almost falling asleep, which Julia found somewhat amusing. He is like a child, she murmured inwardly. She removed her white coat, patted his shoulder, and said, “Let’s go.”
“Huh? Oh, sure!” Byron stood up, rubbed his eyes, and followed her out, still half–asleep.

Chapter 11
At the nurse’s station, a few nurses were chatting together.
“Wow, Byron has been in Dr. Valentine’s office for so long. I wonder what he’s up to,” a nurse said.
“I’m telling you. Their relationship is not normal. Maybe the Mullins family kicked her out because of her improper relationship with other men,” someone added.
“Well, Byron picked the wrong person. Isn’t he just trying to secure his position with the help of Dr. Valentine? There’s a long way to go…”
Julia’s expression darkened. She turned and headed straight for the nurse’s station.
Seeing Julia approaching, the several nurses fell silent.
