Chapter 13
“There’s a party this weekend, and I received an invitation. However, I’m going with Joseph, so I thought of giving this invitation to you. Are you available to go?” Amelie’s voice was gentle as if she was genuinely being generous. She took out an invitation from her bag and placed it on Julia’s desk.
Julia didn’t know what Amelie intended. ‘Perhaps she wants to show off that Joseph invited her to accompany him to the party?‘ Julia thought. She smirked as her interest was piqued and picked up the invitation to take a look. This was a style Julia personally chose. If Amelie knew, she would probably be furious.
Seeing Julia look at the invitation as if she had seen something rare, Amelie couldn’t help but show a hint of sarcasm in her eyes. “But I heard you’re not doing too well these days. Living in the hospital dorms, huh?” Amelie pursed her lips as if in sympathy. “Come to the party and grab something tasty to eat.”
With that, Amelie stood up, ready to leave, but then she seemed to think of something. She turned, looked down at Julia, and said, “Oh, and remember to dress up nicely. The party is held by the Lopez family, and they are quite influential; there will be many celebrities and dignitaries present. Maybe some big shot will be interested in you.” Saying this, Amelie slowly restrained her smile, but her voice remained gentle as if she was giving advice. “So, Julia, stop clinging to Joseph.”
Julia, as if she hadn’t heard what Amelie said, put the invitation back on the desk and smiled politely. “I will go. Thank you,” she said. ‘I wonder what your reaction will be at the party, Amelie. It’s quite interesting to think about it, she thought.
When Amelie stepped into the Lopez family’s mansion arm in arm with Joseph, she still didn’t know what the party was about. She turned her head to look around, searching for Julia’s figure. Today, she planned to embarrass Julia in front of these people, making it impossible for her to get into this circle again.
“What are you looking at?” Joseph asked, seeing Amelie looking around.
Amelie came to her senses. When she met his inquisitive gaze, she turned her head, feeling inexplicably guilty, and said softly, “Nothing.”
Before long, Amelie saw Julia. She was wearing a white dress, leaning against the table, and taking a glass of champagne from
the waiter.
“Joseph, it’s Julia.” Amelie tugged at Joseph’s sleeve, signaling for him to take a look.
Joseph glanced at Julia, who seemed to have noticed them as well. She twirled the glass of champagne in her hand and turned her gaze away as if she hadn’t seen them. Joseph subconsciously frowned.
At that moment, someone greeted Joseph with a glass of wine, “Mr. Mullins.”
Amelie nodded and said to Joseph, “I’ll chat with Julia.”
Julia watched as Amelie approached her. She furrowed her brow and turned to leave.
“Julia,” Amelie softly called out to her.
“What’s up?” Julia raised her eyebrows, turned back, and casually crossed her arms.
Amelie walked closer to her, leaning down slightly, and asked softly with a playful glint in her eyes. “Julia, how about it? Anyone caught your eye here?”
Julia remained silent, looking at her with indifference.
Amelie smiled again, leaning forward once more.
The champagne in Julia’s hand tilted and spilled all over her. Her originally white dress became almost transparent, clinging to her body.

Chapter 13
“Oh, Julia, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean it…” Amelie pretended to apologize, taking a step back as though reaching out to wipe it off for her.
Julia knew Amelie was up to something, so she stepped back as well, avoiding Amelie’s hand, and glanced to the side.
A waiter quickly approached. “Miss Julia, let me take you
to change your clothes.”
Julia lightly nodded. Without even looking at Amelie, she went upstairs.
Amelie had a strange feeling in her heart, but she looked around and noticed that many people had witnessed what happened and were now whispering to each other. Amelie suppressed the strange feeling and smiled. ‘Julia, there were so many people watching,‘ she thought. ‘It must be very embarrassing, huh?‘
Amelie turned and found Joseph walking toward her. At the same time, Rylie, who was with Joseph, frowned and said, “Joseph, why did you bring her here?”
Amelie felt a little embarrassed and called out softly. “Hello, Mrs. Mullins.”
Joseph drew Amelie behind him, saying in a low voice, “Mom.”
“Didn’t you see what she did just now?” Rylie huffed.
Joseph fell silent for a few seconds. He had seen
it,
but Amelie grabbed his arm and whispered, “Joseph, I didn’t mean it.”
Joseph’s eyes darkened as he said lightly, “Mom, Amelie didn’t mean it.”
Thinking of something, Rylie sneered, turned her gaze away, and said nothing more.
At that moment, a voice came from upstairs. “Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for coming to this party. The reason why we hold this party is that we have finally found our daughter.” Sergio and Catalina stood side by side upstairs, wearing smiles.
