Chapter 9
It was already early in the morning when Joseph finished his work, and the sky was starting to light up. Joseph rubbed his forehead wearily. Then, he thought of something and called Joel into his office.
“Yes, Boss?” Joel asked.
Joseph twirled his pen in his fingers and casually asked, “Is Julia still living in the hospital dorm?”
“Yes,” Joel replied quickly. He had expected Joseph to ask about Julia and had investigated the matter. If Joel hadn’t been smart enough to prepare in advance, he would have been fired long ago.
Joseph paused before he casually ordered. “Buy an apartment and put it in her name.”
Joel received the command and left, shaking his head regretfully as he departed. He certainly thought Julia was better in comparison to Amelia. He wondered if Joseph would regret divorcing Julia in the future.
Joseph didn’t return that night. Without him lying next to her, Julia slept soundly and woke up only when her alarm went off. She went downstairs, only to find Rylie sitting at the table, having breakfast.
“Rylie,” Julia greeted.
Rylie glanced at her and asked, “Joseph didn’t come back all night?”
Julia paused for a moment and scratched her head. “There was an urgent matter at the

company, and he had to handle it.”
After breakfast, Julia said goodbye to Rylie and went to work. When she stepped out of the elevator at the hospital, she heard a commotion. She frowned and walked in the direction of the noise. As she approached, she saw a few people arguing with several nurses.
“This is your hospital’s fault! You should compensate me!” one person yelled.
“My poor son! He’s paralyzed for life. What am I going to do?” another person crie
One of them spotted Julia in her white coat and immediately approached her, grabbing her right? What did you do? My son is paralyzed because of you!”
irm “You’re the doctor here,
Julia, who had been involuntarily drawn into the fight, politely responded. “I am a doctor, but I don’t know what happened. Please let go of me.”
“No! We’ve been arguing here for so long, and no doctor has shown up. Just a few nurses are here to brush us off. Your hospital owes us an explanation!”
Julia gestured, and one of the nurses ran to her side to explain quietly. “They are here to cause trouble. The patient arrived late and is now paralyzed in the lower body.” Pausing for a moment, she added with dissatisfaction. “If it weren’t for Dr. Evans, the patient’s survival would have been uncertain. Yet they are here at the hospital claiming we caused the paralysis!”
Julia thought to herself that she was indeed unlucky to encounter such a situation early in the morning. Despite her frustration, she tried to calm the emotions of the family members as much as possible. “Can everyone please calm down? This was caused…
Before Julia could finish her sentence, a distraught older woman, who was crying about her son being paralyzed, suddenly rushed toward Julia as if in a frenzy.
Caught off guard, Julia stepped back repeatedly. That’s when she fell into a firm and warm embrace.

Suddenly, a familiar, deep voice came from above.
Are you okay?”
Recognizing the voice, Julia turned her head to see the slightly stern face of Joseph.
Before Julia could speak, another family member of the patient came rushing toward her, grabbed her by her shoulders, and forcibly turned her around. “What’s with your attitude? Is this the attitude of a doctor? Believe it or not. I will sue you!”
It was a man this time, and he used a significant amount of force in grabbing Julia’s shoulders.
In an instant, Julia felt as though her bones were about to be crushed, and her complexion changed from the pain.
The next moment, however, she felt the restraining force vanish suddenly.
Joseph, without batting an eye, swiftly twisted the man’s arm, his eyes dark as he listened to the man’s painful cries. Then, he pulled Julia into his embrace with his other hand to shield her. His expression was extremely cold, and there was a hint of hostility in his eyes.
