Chapter 3 Argument
It seemed that the resistance in my eyes was not acting, and Niko’s eyes also flashed a moment of
astonishment.
But soon impatience replaced it, “Kayley, don’t give me a hard time.”
I didn’t like it when he always spoke to me in that tone, and even his face, which I had secretly admired for years, started losing points.
“Am I your wife, right? 1 attempted suicide and was hospitalized, but you didn’t show any concern when you came back. And now, you are aggressively blaming me, Niko. What gives you the right to treat me so badly?”
My anger seemed to have ignited his fuse.
He tightly grasped my wrist and said in a cold tone, “Because all of this was your own doing.”
His strength was too great, and he happened to grip the wound on my wrist where I had cut myself in a suicide attempt.
I couldn’t help but feel the pain, but I forced myself to remain silent.
Tears were swirling in my eyes, and in Niko’s eyes, I saw myself in a state of extreme
embarrassment, unsure if my tears would fall or not.
Niko suddenly withdrew his hand, turned me around, and embraced me from behind, his tone icy. “Let it go this time, but don’t ever pretend to threaten me with suicide again.”
I struggled for a moment, but Niko exerted even more force, clearly indicating that he didn’t want me to argue back.
The difference in strength between him and me was too great. I tried a few times and found it was
useless, so I had to give up.
The next day, when I woke up, Niko was no longer by my side.
I casually put on a piece of clothing and went downstairs, only to see that he was already eating breakfast at the dining table.
The butler, standing beside him, greeted me, “Ms. Carter, good morning.”
I stood there without moving, Niko didn’t even lift his head, “Come down and have breakfast.”
Although it was just breakfast, the abundance of it left me speechless.
I couldn’t help but think, it’s really a wealthy family, even breakfast is so grand.
Tawas sitting across from Niko when I saw the butler serve me a bowl of sago pudding. I wrinkled my brow as I smelled the mango, “Why is there mango in it?”

1 The butler said, “This was specially sent by Miss Pruit and it is also be favorita it was air
eighted from Europe.”
I lost my appetite all of a sudden and said, “I won’t eat ”
The silver cutlery clashed against the porcelain, producing aerisp sound. Fuko looked up at me and spoke in a cold voice, “Kayley, enough is enough.”
I was furious and said, “Does It bother you that I don’t eat mangoes?”
“Weren’t you not eating just because it was sent by Madeleine?”
Niko’s face turned cold. “Kayley, when could you rein in your jealousyr
Me?
Was I jealous of Madeleine?
I didn’t know what 25–year–old Kayley Carter looked like in front of Niko, but I guess she had a humble and petty image.
But no matter what, we were still a couple. Didn’t he even know that I was allergic to mangpes?
was just about to speak when the butler suddenly said, “Sir, Miss Pruitt has arrived!”
A gentle voice sounded, “Niko, did I disturb you?”
At the entrance, a slender figure walked over.
Both the butler and the mald were very familiar with her, and it was evident that they often
Interacted.
I took just one glance and knew that person was Madeleine,
I noticed the butler’s address. I am truly Mrs. Schelder, yet he called me Ms. Carter and called her
Miss Pruitt.
The degree of intimacy can be easily discerned by simply listening
No wonder 1, at the age of 25, was so resentful towards Madeleine. As Niko’s legally wedded wife, 1 could never compare to his blatant favoritism towards another woman, who he claimed was just a childhood friend. Anyone would feel mentally unbalanced in such a situation.
Madeleine looked at me with concern. “Ms. Carter, I heard that you cut your wrists… Are you okay
I now?”
I hummed from my nose and didn’t mince my words with her.
idn’t know what I was like in front of them when I was 25 years old, maybe very weak, maybe
because I loved Niko too much, so I let them boss me around,

didn’t love Niko at all.
So there was absolutely no need to swallow one’s pride.
Madeleine hesitated and said to Niko, “Niko, I’m sorry see me. Maybe I shouldn’t have come…”
“Do y
but it seems like Ms. Carter doesn’t want to
you know why they came?” I asked bluntly, “Did they come to laugh at me?”
Madeleine’s face instantly turned red, and Niko coldly scolded me, “Kayley, stop being
unreasonable.”
He explained the situation to Madeleine, and I felt unhappy in my heart, further diminishing my Ampression of him.
I was initially excited and grateful about the fact that I woke up and got married to my crush.
But now it seems that Niko is just like that.
So what if you are handsome and rich? Abandoning your own wife makes you look arrogant, doesn’t
it?
If you had the ability, you shouldn’t have gotten married in the first place!
I was indignant, but Madeleine was gentle and calm. “Niko, I came here specifically to invite you to my celebration banquet…”
After speaking, she seemed to realize that I, a living person, was standing here. It wouldn’t be right if she didn’t invite me, so she could only say to me, “Ms. Carter, would you like to come along as
well?”
I didn’t want to go originally.
But when I saw the disdain and provocation hidden in Madeleine’s eyes, I suddenly smirked and, replied, “Sure, after all, I am Mrs. Schneider, I have to accompany Niko to socialize.”
