Chapter 8
The questions got a makeover, and I asked a bunch of stuff no one had a clue about before.
This show was a smash hit.
By the end of the show, the live viewership had shot past 10 million.
Everyone was pumped because we uncovered all the juicy details of Adrian’s dark past, the guy in charge of the Sinclair family.
Backstage, Matilda gave me a pat on the shoulder. “You’re impressive, kid. Your impromptu questions were razor sharp, catching them off guard.”
Just as we turned around, Adrian and Rachel strolled over.
Matilda suddenly went silent.
Adrian gave me a cold glance. “Did you come up with today’s questions?”
I nodded.
Rachel chimed in, “Ms. Walker, you’re good at asking questions.
“But remember, stick to your professional ethics.
“Don’t expect to get what you don’t deserve.”

With a stern face, he said, “Ms. Walker is competent. From now on, you’ll be liaising with our company for media services.”
Rachel suddenly looked at me with fear and hatred in her eyes,
unable to hide it.
She cornered me and looked at me with disgust.
“Hazel, you’re so greedy.
“You took my money. Why the hell did you come back?”
I remained calm and replied, “I graduated and came back to
work.”
I knew she wouldn’t buy it.
“Came back to work? Hazel, you think I’m an idiot?”
Rachel lost it and threw her bag at me.
“Get the hell out of here and tell him you don’t want to work with Sinclair Group. Otherwise, I’ll make your life a living hell!”
Her bag hit the ground, and its chain unzipped, spilling everything onto the floor.
I ignored her and walked away.
Rachel didn’t lie to me.
I got rejected everywhere.
Several job opportunities that were supposed to be mine got

Right before leaving work that evening, my boss suddenly called me into his office.
“There’s a really important conference next month. You might have to be the host.”
I was shocked for a moment.
He continued, “That’s what Mr. Sinclair wants.”
When I walked out of the company, I saw a familiar Rolls–Royce parked across the street.
The car window rolled down, revealing Adrian’s indifferent face.
“Ms. Walker, if you’re so curious about my past, why don’t you just ask me?”
I avoided his gaze. “Mr. Sinclair, I’m just doing my job, I’m not prying into your privacy.”
“Even if it’s your job, you can still contact me. I gave you my personal business card.
I hesitated and said, “It’s not necessary…”
In that moment, I realized that three years had already passed.
He was the powerful president now, not the young boy with a temper who used to seek my comfort after getting in trouble.
The Parker family had fallen.
Chapter 8
Without Adrian’s approval and support, Rachel would never have the guts to openly target me.

Maybe the past was a shameful memory for him, something he
didn’t want to talk about.
I wanted to leave, but Adrian stopped me.
“Wait.”
He opened the car door and stood in front of me.
“Ms. Walker, can we talk?”
I held my bag tightly and asked in a hoarse voice, “Mr. Sinclair, what do you want to talk about?”
Adrian smiled, looking somewhat helpless.
“About work. Is that alright?”
