“Who did this to you? Was it Drake?” Andrew asked, his fingers digging into her wrist as if he could crush the truth out of her.
Debra winced, trying to pull back, but his hold was unyielding. “It’s not that serious.”
“Not serious?” His voice rose, cutting through her excuses. “You think these marks are nothing?”
Debra’s gaze dropped. Of course, she knew the gravity of the situation. But what was done was done. All she could do was find a way to survive it.
“Drake only injected me once. The dose was weak.”
“Has it taken effect?”
Once someone was injected with drugs, just one dose could make them addicted. Even a weak dose was deadly.
“Yes, but it was bearable.”
“What were you thinking? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Debra rarely saw him this angry. She quickly pulled her hand back and explained, “I was too exhausted last night, and I didn’t want you to worry. Most importantly, I didn’t want Marion to know.”
She knew that if Marion found out, he’d find Drake to avenge her. But Orkgate was far too dangerous. If they wanted to confront Drake, they had to plan carefully. Rushing in without preparation would be suicide.
Andrew fell silent, turning to Barton. “Get a doctor here immediately. And make sure it stays quiet.
“Understood,” Barton replied, hurrying off.
Andrew’s gaze shifted back to Debra. “Come with me upstairs.”
Debra offered to push his wheelchair, but he waved her off. “It’s fine.”
He wheeled himself into the elevator, clearly unpleasant.
“I didn’t mean to hide this from you. I just…
“Just save your energy for explaining it to Marion tonight.”
His words hit her harder than any slap. Andrew, always the composed one, was genuinely mad.
Inside the guest room, the doctor swiftly prepared to draw Debra’s blood for analysis.

Everything in Andrew’s home was state–of–the–art, designed for his fragile health.
It was a bitter irony that Debra now found herself benefiting from it.
As the machine processed the results, Andrew asked, “You’re sure you were only injected once?”
Debra nodded. “I’m sure.”
Moments later, the doctor handed Andrew a report. “Sir, here are the results. Ms. Frazier’s blood shows traces of a new drug. It was injected directly into her veins but diluted. If it had been pure, she wouldn’t have made it.”
“What are the long–term effects?” Andrew asked, his voice steely.
“It’s highly addictive. The more doses, the more control the drug takes. Eventually, it could cause permanent damage to their nervous systems. No amount of willpower could help. Fortunately, Ms. Frazier was only injected once, so there’s still hope,” replied the doctor.
Andrew absorbed the grim reality with a sullen expression. “I see. Prepare the necessary treatment.”
“Okay.” The doctor nodded and left to gather supplies.
