“Madam, are you attending?” Ben’s voice crackled over the phone.
They had received an invitation, but it was addressed to Tracy.
If Tracy didn’t attend the banquet, it would be a slap in the host’s face. A clash with them could spell disaster for the McKinney Group.
“I’ll be there.”
“But the invitation isn’t for you. If you show up, won’t that cause a stir?”
“The invitation is for the head of the McKinney Group. And that’s me.”
“You’re going to reveal your identity?”
That would cause a stir online, especially since the internet was now filled with negative comments about her private life. People called her a gold–digger.
But Debra knew it was time to disclose her identity. Before, she had kept it hidden to keep Juan and his family from seeing her true value, so she could divorce him more easily.
Now she didn’t want anyone to speculate about her relationship with Marion anymore.
She said, “Get me a show–stopping dress, Ben. It’s time I stepped into the spotlight.”
She couldn’t wait to see those regretful faces. The first one would be Melody, who had worked tirelessly to ensure the divorce.
Melody would never have imagined that the person she schemed to get rid of would turn out to be the head of the McKinney Group.
The next in line would be Edgar. Broke and disgraced, he’d slunk back to Seamar City from Orkgate.
When he found out she was pulling the strings behind the curtains, his reaction would be positively priceless.
“Are you sure about this?” Marion asked, wrapping his arms around her.
Debra nodded resolutely. “Yes. I can’t let people think I’m with you for your money.”

Marion chuckled, nuzzling her neck. “If only they knew how hard I had to work to win you over.”
Being wealthy might be his only merit. If Debra liked it, he would happily hand over all his money to her. In fact, he already had.
As the sun set, the banquet kicked off at the Eaton family’s newly acquired villa.
Upstairs, Drake adjusted his cufflinks, feeling like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
