Debra folded her arms. “He didn’t let you take over because he’d already decided to align with the Eaton family. Looks like you were just unlucky.”
Lara’s lips trembled, her frustration spilling out. “I’ve endured so much for nothing. You’re more resourceful than me, and I’m sorry for spoiling your plan this time. I didn’t have a choice. I had to gain Drake’s trust and survive. Please, give me another chance. I’ll do whatever you say as long as I can get my revenge in the end.”
Debra studied her expression. “How can I trust you again?”
Lara froze. “I’ll do anything to prove myself to you. Anything.”
“Alright,” Debra said. “If you want me to trust you, then go back to Drake. Whatever you say or do from now on is up to you. If he keeps you and stops doubting you, then I’ll believe you.”
Lara was stunned, and Debra pressed, “Why? Can’t do it? You know better than anyone
how suspicious Drake is. If he doesn’t trust you, then what’s the point of me trusting you? Sooner or later, he’ll figure you out, and you’ll just drag me down with you. This time, your fate is in your hands. I’m not going to intervene.”
She glanced at Marion’s men and instructed, “Take her out.”
