In the village, everyone avoided Howell and Tabitha as if they were a plague.
Whenever the couple was humiliated or frustrated outside, the first thing they did after returning home was to vent their anger on Felicia. At the time. Felicia was only three years old, yet her body was often covered in bruises from the beatings.
Their son, Shawn, followed their example, finding joy in bullying Felicia.
The most severe incident occurred when Shawn threw the three–year–old Felicia into the village river where people washed clothes. If it hadn’t been for a passing villager, Felicia would’ve drowned.
In her dream, Myra’s heart twisted in agony. Grief, rage, and pain all intertwined, making her desperately want to rush over and embrace the pitiful child. Having been beaten so often, Felicia gradually learned to read people’s moods. The little girl convinced herself that it was because she ate too much and did too little work that her parents disliked her.
As a result, she took on nearly all the household chores. With her tiny hands and legs, she stood on stools to clean tables, wash dishes, and do the laundry, trying her best to be like an adult. But even this didn’t earn the couple’s affection.
On Shawn’s birthday, Howell and Tabitha scoured the entire town to buy him a birthday cake. Amidst the candlelight, no one noticed the small figure curled up in the corner, her bright eyes filled with envy and longing
Yet in the end, she didn’t even get a taste of the cake.
Shawn, the little tyrant, stomped the leftover cake into the ground, grinding it into a mess. Then, with his hands on his hips, he laughed at Felicia and sneered, “Want some? You can lick it. There’s still some on the bottom of my shop!”
Howell and Tabitha didn’t stop him. Instead, they smiled and praised, “That’s my boy! So manly even at such a young age! You’re amazing!” “Enough! Enough! That’s enough!” Myra screamed.
She was livid, enraged to the point of madness. She hated that this was just a dream and she couldn’t rush in to rip the couple’s faces and kick that bully in the head!
Meanwhile, in the other Fuller household, Kayla lived a life of utmost luxury and affection. Her food, clothing, and lifestyle were the best money could buy, and whatever she wanted was hers in an instant.
Even if she wished for the stars in the sky, Dexter would’ve tried his best to acquire it for her!
One child was trampled into the mud, struggling to grow up amidst hardship. The other was the moon in the sky, high above and untouchable in her perfection.
Later, Felicia became increasingly silent. Her

held admiration or hope.
That changed when she accidentally overheard a conversation between Howell and Tabitha. She learned that she wasn’t their biological child.
At that moment, light returned to her eyes.
She began to wonder that if she found her biological parents, would someone finally love and care for her? Would they stop beating her and making her suffer so much? They would, wouldn’t they? They had to.
Felicia, who was just seven years old, smiled brightly, her eyes finally filled with hope.
From then on, she started to find ways to avoid beatings and gradually revealed her capabilities, making Howell and Tabitha see her value and become wary of treating her too harshly. She was like a resilient vine, an unyielding machine tirelessly absorbing all the knowledge she could.
All of it was for the day she could meet her real parents.
But when that day finally came, her long–awaited biological parents already had Kayla by their side a daughter adored by all and showered with love. The concern and affection Felicia had imagined from her biological parents never came through. They didn’t even give her an extra glance.
Unlike Howell and Tabithia’s abuse and humiliation, Myra and Dexter’s favoritism was another kind of trauma. At its core, there was no difference between the two. One couple tormented her physically, and the other couple tormented her emotionally.
