Seven years into marriage, I found a love letter and a farewell note my husband left for his first love, turns out, I was the fool Chapter 9

Seven years into marriage, I found a love letter and a farewell note my husband left for his first love, turns out, I was the fool Chapter 9

Is this all moving too fast?I asked hesitantly

Will smiled, his hands massaging my ankle gently

We’re not kids anymore. If anything, we’re late. We’ve got years to make up for.”

Oh, by the way,he added casually, I found a topnotch lawyer to handle your divorce.”

I raised an eyebrow. Who?”

Someone wellknown. Oliver Carter.”

I didn’t expect to run into Oliver at the gala

He arrived with Luna on his arm, her presence practically screaming for attention

As soon as she spotted me, her face lit with fake surprise

Well, well, look who it isMrs. Carter. Or, should I say, almost exMrs. Carter. What are you doing here? Looking for your next sugar daddy?”

She clung to Oliver’s arm, her voice dripping with mock sympathy

Oliver’s been so worried about you, searching everywhere for you. Honestly, I feel bad for him.”

Oliver’s eyes locked onto mine, his lips pressed tightly together. He didn’t say anything, but his gaze dropped to my hand

His expression darkened when he noticed the ring on my fingerno longer the one he’d given me

Luna’s eyes followed his, and she let out a mocking laugh

Wow, you really did find someone. Headtotoe designer, huh? Must be nice. But, just so you know, Oliver’s been landing some big deals lately. His career’s about to take off. Don’t come crawling back when you regret leaving him.”

She turned to Will, her tone snide

Did you know, Mr. Shaw? Your fiancée’s still technically married. Oliver’s handling a case right nowmaybe it’s yours.”

They didn’t realize the gala had been funded by Will himself

I tried to walk past them, but Oliver grabbed my wrist, his grip tight and unrelenting

He stared at my ring, his voice low and trembling

Anna, tell me the truth. When did you start cheating on me? What does he have that I don’t?”

I yanked my hand free and stepped back, bumping into someone behind me

Luna’s voice rang out, soft and mocking

Careful, Mrs. Carter. You just bumped into Mr. Shaw. Is your new boyfriend one of the smalltime businessmen here? Better watch outhis deals might fall apart if you’re not careful.”

Oliver straightened his posture and extended a hand toward Will, putting on a polite, professional façade

Mr. Shaw, I’m Oliver Carter. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Please don’t hold this misunderstanding against her. She’s beenunder a lot of pressure lately.”

He actually thought he was doing me a favor, acting like the bigger man

But Will simply rested a hand on my shoulder and smiled

I think there’s been a misunderstanding.”

He glanced at Oliver and said calmly, Mr. Carter, this is Anna. She’s the friend I hired you to handle a divorce case for.”

10:32 AM

Oliver’s expression froze

His eyes darted between me and Will, his confidence crumbling. The wine glass in his hand slipped, shattering on the floor and staining Luna’s pristine white dress

Will ignored the chaos and handed Oliver a folder

I hope you’ll handle this case well. I want the best possible outcome for my fiancée,he said, his tone steady. She deserves nothing less.”
