Chapter 19
“That’s better. Luna, you can go back to your class now,” Icarus sald to Lama.
Luna nodded and went back to her classroom.
Icarus turned and headed back up the stairs. The students who were gathered around them dispersed as well.
Emily glared at Icarus‘ back, gritting her teeth in anger.
She had never been threatened in this way before, especially not in front of such a big crowd. Icarus had made her out to be some kind of shrew, humiliating her.
If she had a knife with her right now, she would’ve stabbed Icarus.
“I won’t let this go easily!” she said, clenching her teeth so hard they creaked.
When Icarus returned to the classroom, Hank had already arrived.
Emily’s friends surrounded him, chattering non–stop as they pointed at Icarus.
Donovan scampered up to Icarus when he saw him. “You’re in huge trouble now, Icarus.”
“How so?” Icarus asked.
“Emily’s quite popular, plus Leon’s minions are still raring to get revenge on you. Now both groups will be working together to go against you!”
“They won’t be able to do anything to me. Just watch,” Icarus said as he patted Donovan on his shoulder.
“Icarus, come here!” Hank called out to Icarus as soon as he saw him.
Icarus went over to him.
“Where’s Emily?” Hank asked, frowning.
“I don’t know,” Icarus replied.
Just as he finished speaking, Emily walked through the door of the classroom.
“Emily, are you alright?” Her friends swarmed her immediately.
Holding her hand to her cheek, which was still smarting, Emily glared at Icarus as she walked up to Hank
“Emily, did Icarus really hit you?” Hank asked gravely.
Emily’s eyes were red. She nodded. “He slapped me. My face still hurts. Then he grabbed me by the hair and forced me to go downstairs and apologize.”
“Apologize?” Hank frowned.
“He accused me of bullying a freshman. I’ve never bullied anyone before. A lot of people will vouch for that. Icarus did this on purpose to humiliate me!” Emily said, tears running down her face.
Emily might not be as pretty as Ruth, but she still used to be one of the prettiest students in the class.
When she cried, many male students who had a crush on her were sympathetic.
Hank looked over at Icarus. “Icarus, why did you hit her?” he demanded.
To Hank, Icarus‘ arrogance was getting out of hand. Just because he was under the Talbots‘ protection, he dared to beat up his classmates twice in the same week!
A nasty student like him should be expelled!
Not even the Talbots could protect him, :
- n. now th
that he had committed the same offense twice.
“I don’t know what she’s talking about. I didn’t hit her,” Icarus said.
Hank’s expression changed. He hadn’t expected Icarus to deny it outright.
“You…” Emly glared at Icarus.
Before she could say anything, Icarus added, “If you don’t believe me, tell her to move her hand away.”
“Are you trying to talk your way out of this, Icarus?” One of his classmates said loudly. “We all saw you hit her!”
“Yeah! Did you think we were blind? Or do you think you’re powerful enough to silence all of us?”
“Mr. Varra, take him to the Academic Affairs Department! Expel him!”
Just as Donovan had predicted, a large majority of his classmates turned on Icarus.
dat
Hank did not say anything. He just stared at Hank.
“Just move your hand away and you’ll know,” Icarus said calmly.
“Okay, I’ll move my hand away. Let’s see what you have to say,” Emily said. Her face was still burning with pain. It was probably really swollen by now.
She hadn’t wanted to show everyone how ugly she looked with a swollen face, but she decided to sacrifice her vanity in order to prove Icarus‘ wrongdoing.
She moved her hand away.
The students around her made noises of confusion–Emily’s face was perfectly fine. Even her makeup was still perfect.
What was going on?
Everyone was astonished.
They’d seen Icarus slap Emily loudly earlier.
By right, Emily’s face should be swollen, or at the very least, imprinted with a red handprint.
However, Emily’s face was unblemished.
In that case, all of their accusations were baseless.
Emily was startled to see the reactions of her classmates.
She took out her phone and turned on the front camera to inspect her face.
“How… How is this possible?” Emily was dumbfounded. Her face was incredibly painful!
“Do you need me to say anything else, Mr. Yarra?” Icarus asked, looking at Hank
Hank’s brows were tightly furrowed, his expression dark
He didn’t know what was happening now.
Was Emily and the rest of the class slandering Icarus, or was Icarus simply lying?
Then again, if Emily had spoken the truth, then why was she completely unhurt?
Nothing about this made sense.
“Mr. Yarra, I don’t know why… but everyone saw him slap me! You have to punish him, or he’ll keep getting more outrageous!” Emily rambled, her anger jumbling her words.
