Chapter 5
Isaw James holding my hand, looking haggard, as if he had been watching over me all night.
He got up to pour me some water: “Is this how you treat yourself when I’m not around? You’ve always had a wook
stomach Are you trying to kill yourself?”
He questioned me, his tone urgent and concerned, his eyes full of endless care for me,
Look how ridiculous this is.
For the week I was looking for him, I couldn’t eat or sleep, and lost five pounds
Ikept thinking maybe James had offended someone in business and had been kidnapped.
Worried sick, Leouldn’t sleep at night, my pillow wat with tears.
But he was out there having a good time, even kissing young girls, perhaps doing even more.
“Not talking?” James’s eyes were filled with a smile as he pinched my cheek. “You know I’m going to punish you, right?” “Alright, get up and eat something.”
“Husband made you some porridge at home. Didn’t sleep all night.”
He acted as if nothing had happened, helping me sit up, feeding me spoonful by spoonful. His movements were gentle, carefully blowing on each spoonful to cool it before feeding mo, as if I were his most precious treasure..
Several times I wanted to ask him.
James, are you tired of acting?
Or tell him, James, I heard your conversation. If you don’t want to get married, we can cancel the wedding right away. We haven’t registered our marriage anyway
But I swallowed my words
I also really want to know, after loving each other for so many years, why would he do this to me?
Just because I once liked someone else, am I not worthy of love anymore?
“Sweetheart, why are you crying?”
