Chapter 6
The head teacher was quiet on the other end of the line for a long while before finally speaking.
“Gianna, you’ve been wrongly accused. Actually… Helena‘ s withdrawal had nothing to do with her relationship issues. At most, it was a simple warning and a call to her parents. But the real problem is that she-”
Before he could finish, Helena reached over and hung up the phone, her face contorted with disbelief.
“Impossible!” she shrieked, nearly hysterical. Her voice grated on my nerves, and I quietly left the room, refreshing myself with a quick spritz of perfume.

familiar voice teased. I turned to see the male model yesterday, now dressed in a crisp suit that made him look even more striking. I raised an eyebrow, amused as I caught others calling him Mr. Jones.
Aiden leaned closer, catching a whiff of my perfume. “Not bad,” he remarked with a smirk.
This scene didn’t go unnoticed by Daniel, who immediately grabbed me, his face twisted in anger. “So, you’ve had new men lined up this whole time. No wonder you wanted to break up! Gianna, I bet you planned this from the start, just to play me!”
He was so furious, veins bulging on his neck, as if he was one step away from pulling out a knife.

I looked at him coldly, realizing how desperate he looked, like a man on the edge of madness.
I remembered all those months I’d watched him transfer money to Helena‘ s account. Each time, it chilled me, and one day, I finally confronted him. But his only response was, “It’s none of your business,” leaving me frozen and speechless. Now, I repeated his own words back to him.
Daniel looked stunned, as though he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, his mouth opening slightly but no words coming out. I turned and walked toward Aiden. Just as I opened Instagram to add him, Daniel lunged forward, knocking Aiden to the ground.

think you can get close to her?” he yelled.
But Aiden wasn‘ t one to back down. He quickly recovered and started fighting back. I stepped aside, watching them clash, thinking it was finally time for me to leave. But Aiden was innocent in all this, and he didn’t deserve to be dragged into it. I ran back and shoved Daniel off of him.
“Enough! Stop embarrassing yourself!” I shouted, my voice was cold.
Daniel stared at me in disbelief, but I ignored him, helping Aiden to his feet. As we started to leave, I looked back at Daniel one last time.
“We’re over. Your girlfriend now is Helena. Don’t forget it.”

friends. The moment she saw me, she tore herself free and lunged, her hand raised to strike.
“Did you bribe the head teacher to cover for you?” she shouted. “Daniel, don’t trust the teacher–they’re only protecting her! Who knows what she’s done behind our backs!”
But before her hand could reach me, Daniel intervened, his voice as sharp as his slap that landed across her cheek.
“Enough!” he barked, positioning himself between us, shielding me. “I’ll get to the bottom of this, Helena. But leave Gianna out of it. Don’t go after her again.”

into something cold and dark. She held back,
likely because Aiden was still beside me, watching.
I looked at them both, my voice steady. “I don’t care what you two do. Just make sure I never have to see either of you again.”
Without waiting for a response, I grabbed Nicole’s arm and turned to leave. She leaned in, muttering something bold in my ear, and I managed a smile. But I knew that even if Daniel finally realized I was innocent, it wouldn’t matter. No apology could make up for all I’d endured.
I could still remember his bitter words in a past argument: “If you hadn‘ t interfered, I would have married Helena by now. We‘ d have children.”

In their world, every problem somehow traced back to me. And for once, I felt the weight lift as I walked away, finally free from the blame they’d both so willingly placed on
- me.
Nicole and her husband were blissfully in love, and I knew it wasn’t right to keep staying there. So, I checked into a hotel instead, and those next three weeks became the happiest of my life.
Free from all the tension, I could finally breathe and enjoy my own space, doing whatever I wanted on my own terms. Chapter
