Debra countered, “Guess why they took your machines and who called the police on the docks. Do you really think this has nothing to do with you? You were smarter than this.”
Drake scoffed, “You think I’m clueless? That was just a disguise to mislead you. They are mainly after you. I have plenty of enemies, but none of them can beat me. If there were someone like that, I would’ve found out by now.
Debra rolled her eyes. “Come on! Stop bragging. If you were so capable, you wouldn’t be i this mess. You wouldn’t have had to smash your machines and bring them here yourself.”
Drake was about to explode, but Debra continued, “If you’re so confident, let’s make a bet. Let’s see who can find the mastermind first. What do you say?”
“You’re on,” Drake agreed.
Debra extended a hand. Drake glanced at it, puzzled. “What’s this?”
“Let’s do a high–five as a vow. If you win, I’ll admit your skills. If I win, you will give me another ten million dollars. Deal?”
“Deal,” Drake said, slow to catch on.
Before Kale could remind him, his hand had already slapped against Debra’s.
Debra smiled, “Alright, I’ll see you around.”
She walked away quickly, leaving Drake still processing what had just happened.
Kale stepped forward. “Boss, don’t you think there’s something off?”
“Off? What do you mean?”
“If Debra wins, you owe her ten million dollars.”
“That’s nothing.”
“But if you win…”
Drake finally caught on. Debra had tricked him into helping her for free.
He kicked Kale in the butt. “Why didn’t you warn me?”
“You agreed too fast. I didn’t have time,” Kale protested.
“Forget it. Let’s go,” Drake huffed.

He regretted coming to the funeral. He didn’t even know Shella. It was a waste of time.
In the car, Debra looked at the business card.
If she remembered correctly, all of the Lowe Group’s machines were made in the same factory. The medical equipment used in the beauty salon was no exception.
The supply chain was in Orkgate. The machines were made there and then distributed legally. If someone was secretly selling these machines to Seamar City, there had to be a trail.
Drake hadn’t caught the person behind the machine smuggling. They had to wait for the next
chance.
