Chapter 79 Adrian Is Married
The incident was quickly handled, with the audacious scapegoat rescued and swiftly removed from the scene. Germaine breathed a sigh of relief, hoping the matter would end there without Adrian’s further investigation.
Farrah seized the opportunity to follow Germaine to the restroom. At the sink, the two women stood side by side, their eyes meeting in the mirror.
“Ms. Keller, do you think there are surveillance cameras by the pool?” Farrah asked, having deduced Germaine’s involvement. “And do you think we can find that server again?”
Germaine’s eyes flickered with unease. She feared Farrah might pursue the matter, given her favor with Mark. She feigned innocence and said coldly, “Farrah, Why are you asking me? This isn’t my responsibility.” Farrah turned to face her directly. “You don’t have to act dumb.”
Outside the restroom, Adrian stood with his hands in his pockets. His expression was stern as he eavesdropped on their conversation.
Farrah chuckled and continued, “Disappointed, aren’t you? Your plan failed. Maybe next time, find a smarter accomplice.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Germaine denied firmly, her tone icy. “Farrah, don’t make false accusations. I didn’t instruct anyone to do anything to you.”
“I didn’t say you did,” Farrah replied, drying her hands “You know what you did. Consider this a friendly reminder–what goes around, comes back around.”
Germaine was furious. She could not believe that Farrah had not only avoided humiliation but was even audaciously gloating before her.
“Farrah, it’s too soon to celebrate. You’d better watch your step from now on.”
“Is that a confession?” Farrah asked casually, then smiled. “Does Adrian know how much you like him?” Germaine remained silent. Outside, Adrian’s intense gaze betrayed nothing of his thoughts.
Farrah added cheerfully, “Oh, by the way. I thought you should know, Mr. Locke seems to be… married. He’s wearing a wedding ring tonight.”
Germaine wanted to accuse Farrah of lying, but this was an easily verifiable detail. She was left speechless and in disbelief. Outside, Adrian’s expression darkened, his lips pressing into a thin line.
Farrah exited, nearly colliding with Adrian. She froze for a moment before eventually looking up to meet his cold, distant gaze. She quickly sidestepped him and hurried away. When Germaine emerged, Adrian was gone.
Her mind kept replaying Farrah’s words about the wedding ring. It was something she had not noticed before. Back in the ballroom, Adrian approached Germaine with a slice of cake and a silver fork.
“Would you like to try this?”
Germaine felt no joy as her eyes were fixed on his wedding ring, leaving her stunned. She stared in disbelief. The sudden realization struck her like a bolt of lightning.
Adrian observed her shocked expression patiently, waiting for her to process this reality. Yes, he was married, and he did not want to hide it. At the very least, he needed Germaine to know.
